This lovely family of four brought their Au Pair along for their family portrait “mini” session. We spent about twenty perfectly-timed minutes taking photos before it started raining on us. The kids were so relaxed in front of the camera they made my job seem effortless. I let them surprise me with their silly faces and creative poses and they loved it!
We met a few days after Thanksgiving at the Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park. This beautiful setting near the American River in Folsom, California has a variety of distressed wood and industrial brick buildings. It created a relaxed urban feel that happened to compliment this family of natural models.
I loved seeing each of them enjoy quality time in front of the lens. Sometimes, during the busyness of the holidays, it can be difficult to slow down and take in each others’ company. That is one of the reasons I cherish family sessions—it gives families a chance to take on a slower pace, even if we only have twenty minutes! They end up smiling and laughing the whole time and get to leave with photos they will cherish for many more years.
