Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.
Hi there, I'm Kirsten! As a Northern California girl who moved to the Central Coast to study at Cal Poly, I have been blessed to live in some beautiful places. On most days, you can find me hiking or walking my pup, editing portraits, working on a graphic design project, planning my next photo adventure and cuddling with my husband. I was introduced to wedding photography when our wedding photographer asked me to work as her assistant and I totally fell in love with it!
My favorite thing about what I do is the people I get to work with. At every event or portrait session, I can't stop smiling at each couple or family I photograph. Every new face and personality interacts in a way that is unique to their story and relationship. I constantly look for moments of raw emotion and see our human imperfections as beautiful. It is such a gift that my clients trust me to document them in the ways I find captivating.
Whether it's cuddling on the couch with my husband, spending an hour on the phone with my sister, or hiking the bluffs with a friend, I love spending time with the people who matter most. It sure helps to live near some beautiful places here on the West Coast that give us an excuse to unplug and focus our perspective.
I grew up taking long walks with my family and closest friends. It's our quality time together and it usually feels like a form of meditation. To this day, if I go too long without some quality time spent outside in fresh air, I'll get stir crazy, which means my dog Roxy will too! On most days, she's my walking buddy.
Roxy is a terrier mix with the sweetest eyes and begging face we've ever seen. Stetson and I adopted her when she was only three months old, after she was found abandoned on the streets. She has her own quirks and imperfect moments, but they're what make us love her even more. What can I say? We're definitely dog people.
One of the reasons I've fallen in love with photography is that I get to know my clients on a personal level. It is so important that we get along well and have a level of chemistry that will make us a good match.
THE MORE STEPS WE TAKE UP FRONT TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER, THE BETTER CHANCE WE'LL HAVE AT DISCOVERING IF WE'RE A GOOD FIT. I'VE LISTED THE MAIN STEPS OF MY CLIENT EXPERIENCE BELOW SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN WORKING WORKING WITH ME.
First an foremost, you'll need to reach out and let me know the basics—your wedding date, venue, budget, etc. I've made it simple for you to tell me this information all in one place on my contact page. If I have your date available, you can expect to hear from me within a day with my pricing information and a request to set up a meeting over the phone or coffee. This gives you a chance to ask questions and allows me to hear your story. Consider it our "first date"!
If we decide we're a great match—cause, let's be honest, wedding planning feels a lot like dating—you'll get an email with a custom proposal. This will outline the details of the photography package you selected, as well as my contract and payment schedule. Once your proposal is signed and your non-refundable deposit is paid, you'll be on my calendar and we can start planning more of the details!
Being engaged is so exciting, it often goes by in a blur. I include an engagement session in all of my wedding photography packages to ensure that you have beautiful photos from this time in your life to display in your home or on your wedding day. Engagement sessions are also a chance for us to get comfortable with each other. It's always fun to spend time together leading up to your wedding day!
My wedding couples are welcome to reach out to me any time leading up to their day. I'll be available to answer any of your questions or offer advice and recommendations. We'll finalize your day-of timeline, shot list, vendor list and optional venue walk-through. The more details we communicate leading up to your day, the easier it will be to help make your wedding day seamless.
The day you've been waiting for will feel like a dream, I promise. So, you can leave me to work, work, work while you two simply relax and enjoy your day. I'll direct you when necessary, but my focus will be on capturing all of the emotions of your day. From the small quiet moments to your guest's wild dance moves, my second photographer and I will capture the moments you might overlook, and, of course, the ones you'll never want to forget!
While you're enjoying your honeymoon, I'll be editing and preparing your photos for their big reveal. About three weeks after your day, you'll receive a link sent to your inbox to download your files. It will be such a treat to browse through those memories with one another and re-live your day! You'll also have the option to order prints through my website and order a custom album design, which I can help you select based on your personal style.
I have a feeling by the end of our time working together, it might be difficult to say goodbye. In all honesty, I won't want our new friendship to stop. A great way to stay in touch is by following me on Instagram or Facebook, where I share a mix of both my work and personal life. You'll also stay up-to-date on future portrait sessions and giveaways! Of course, I love staying connected with my couples, so I'm only one email away!
