Growing up, I never could have dreamed up this love story if I tried. Kayla and I have known each other since we were three and four years old and actually grew up next door to one other, so we are practically sisters. She met my husband’s cousin, Wyatt at our wedding when they both were in our wedding party and walked down the aisle together as a bridesmaid and groomsman.
Fast forward a year and they got engaged, which means my childhood best friend now shares my last name! When they asked me to take their engagement photos and capture their Lake Tahoe engagement session, I was honored! This was an incredibly special day that had me in tears a few times, thanking God that these two found each other and dreaming about their future together. They were married this last Spring and are now happily married. It has been a gift simply doing life together in the same town. I don’t know if I’ll ever fathom the fact that my best friend is now my cousin!
I truly believe engagement sessions are some of the most fun and most important memories I can document. This time is so sweet, yet fleeting and it is a gift to have photos you can look back on and remember those butterflies and that honeymoon phase of your love story. Lake Tahoe is a special place for these two, a place where Kayla spent a lot of time growing up at her family cabin. Talk about a stunning backdrop for this summer engagement session near South Lake Tahoe.
