Emily & DJ | Morro Bay Engagement Session

We planned Emily and DJ’s Morro Bay engagement session since it is a meaningful place to both of them and a special part of their love story. They grew up here and actually met in middle school when DJ threw gum in Emily’s hair during history class (I know, adorably rude, right?!), but they didn’t start dating until the end of their senior year in high school.

Between date nights on DJ’s boat listening to their favorite music, to riding bikes around Barcelona in a quest to find spicy Mexican food, to raising their son together, these two have a story that is full of adventure, romance and authentic love.

I asked Emily and DJ a few questions before their Engagement Session

How did he propose?

“We were getting family photos done in a mini session for holiday cards (I had set it up) and DJ talked to our photographer in secret and proposed during the session. Our son was with us holding the box, and he cried the whole time. When DJ opened the box, it was upside down on this little bridge over a creek. We got some awesome pictures of it all! I think we were nearly crying of laughter because our son was so upset to be taking photos. It was funny because it was not how we would’ve imagined it, but it was so true to our lives.”

What are three things you love about DJ?

“1. He’s thoughtful in a weird way – I never know what he’s going to say or do, but he’s always looking to make life better for me (or someone else he cares about for that matter). 2. I just really enjoy spending time with him. He makes me feel good. 3. He is THE BEST dad to our son and that is really awesome to see. Hard not to love somebody when you get to see that.”

What are three things you love about Emily?

“Her passion for us, our baby, and her job. I love the way she channels herself.”

An Engagement Session to Remember

Spending the evening with Emily and DJ for a Morro Bay engagement session, I witnessed their laid back personalities and unconditional love for their baby boy. These two make an amazing team and the love they have for one another and their son is so evident in these photos. Everything they do is for him.
