One of my favorite things about doing portrait sessions with young families is every moment is unpredictable. What three-year-old wants to sit still and smile at the camera for minutes, after all? With limited time and light, as well as the distractions that arise with little ones, family sessions have become a rewarding challenge for me.
I had the chance to photograph this sweet family of four recently. I couldn’t get enough of them! Watching how they interact and laugh with each other gave me a glimpse into how they love. It’s a beautiful thing to see families turn an ordinary week day into a photo session. They meet me with their imperfections and silly stories, then I get to tell them how much I love their smiles and I let the kids chase me around with sticks. It’s organized chaos, really, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Here are some gems from a fun evening with this fam!
